Have you ever found yourself in a dilemma not knowing what to choose?
If what’s in your head comes from the heart or your mind?
If so, this article is for you. I’ll try to explain in my own words how I figure that out for myself.
We are constantly confronted with choices in our lives.
Should we go this way or that way?
Should I choose this or choose that?
Do I stay or do I go?
Either way, there’s always a decision to make and many times we can choose something that is not our preference. But why do we choose it?
Well, I can find myself many times in this situation but there’s a subtle but simple way to figure it out if this choice or decision comes from your Intuition or from your rational logical mind.
There's 2 kinds of “voices” in my head every time I need to do something and take action.
This can be a simple task such as ordering food in the restaurant, going to the beach or going for a hike.
It can be something more important like traveling to one country or another on my holidays. Open my own business or stay working for others?
Whatever it is I can “hear” 2 types of voices and this is my intuition and my rational mind.
Now, how can I know which one is telling the truth or lead me to the right choice?
It’s simple:
The first thing I feel is my intuition. The first option presented comes from my heart.
It’s my true desire, what I really want. It takes less than 5 seconds to feel it or hear it.
After that will come the mind with all the questions and the “why’s” we should not do it.
And why after? Because the mind relies on a database. A database created by our own experiences and memories from the past. It’s a huge archive of memories and thoughts and even if we all can access that archive in seconds it needs some time to go search that limited belief or that reason why we shouldn’t do it. Mind is concerned with survival, on the money you need to spend, on the obstacles along the way.
The Heart wants to have fun.
I’m sure you already heard the expression: “The mind is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master.” and it’s true.
So here’s what I try to do most of the times:
Every time I have a decision to make I listen to my heart and intuition.
This is the Master creating the next step in my life. This is the path of least resistance that aligns with my true soul and desires.
Now that the project is ready and created, it’s time to give it to the servant to take care of the details.
Example:
Do I go to the beach or for a hike? What excites me more? What gives me more joy in that particular moment?
If it’s the beach, let’s go to the beach.
Mind: Take care of the details. How do I go? What do I need to take with me? What’s the most convenient time? Should I go this way or that way?
If I allow myself to listen to the first voice and follow it, everything flows naturally and spontaneously and the details are figured out by my rational mind.
If we’re going on a big journey or start a big project in our lives, we cannot see all the steps we need to take to complete it, and we don’t need to.
Every time you follow your intuition you just advance 1 step and it’s enough for that time.
When your higher self sees that you’re following the instructions then it gives you the next step to follow, and the next and the next.
The mind is always there and you cannot get rid of that and you shouldn’t. That’s the great servant that's gonna take care of the details along the way.
It’s just a matter of delivering the right tasks to the right executer.
Where to go: Follow the first feeling, the intuition!
How to go: Follow the mind that will helps with details along the way.
The Intuition always sees the big picture because it’s connected with your higher self and the big part of you that is non-physical, your energy field. It’s on the top of the mountain and can see the right path for you depending where you wanna go.
The Mind is in a small valley and has a narrow vision and can only see the path in front but can listen to the intuition and follow directions.
The feelings that come with every thought and action are your guiding system.
It’s like a GPS.
When it feels good it’s saying: “You’re in the right direction. Keep going.”
When it feels bad it’s saying: “That’s not the right direction according to the destination you chose. Consider change direction”
The idea is to combine everything properly. Mind, feelings and Intuition. This way you can always follow your passion and allow yourself to receive the next step along the way as soon as you complete the previous one.
It’s subtle and you can only listen and hear with your intuition. Pay attention.
It requires practice and faith because you cannot see the unknown and the steps far ahead, that’s why the mind always kicks in with opinions and limitations but when you start to flow naturally it feels amazing to go with the current of your desires and not swim against it.
Hope this article helps you along the way with your daily decisions.
